POWER SEARCH
The Power Search entry field is at the top of each page.
POWER SEARCH provides a multitude of entry options, but some must be entered a specific way…
a) Telephone Area Code … enter the three digits, followed by a period (if no period is entered, your results will include street addresses, zip codes, etc. Don’t forget that period!)
NEW FAST AREA CODE SEARCH … This is an early announcement, since I’m just rolling it out, but to search by area code, type the letters “ac” followed by the area code. Example: ac213 or ac415 or ac404. Right now (March 2010) you may get one or two results, but it should improve fast.
b) Zip Code … Enter the five-digit zip code. Or try four. NOTE: not all listings included a zip code … try another method if you can’t find it.
NEW FAST ZIP CODE SEARCH … This, too, is a very early announcement, but to search by zip code, type the letters “zip” followed by the five-digit zip code, or to widen your results, use only the first three or four numbers in the zip. Example: zip30306 or zip94022 or to widen your results, try zip940. Again, this is a completely new feature, so it will take a while to fully implement.
c) City Name** … DO NOT enter all the letters in the city name — e.g., for Redondo Beach enter: redon And NEVER put the state name after a city name in a search.
**IMPORTANT: Especially for NEW YORK, search on the borough name, such as Queens, Bronx, Manhattan, etc.
Searching on NEW YORK CITY will provide no results; searching NEW YORK will give you the state listing.
NOTE: If one method doesn’t provide the results you were looking for, try another. Not all markets included a phone number, and some included the corporate number, which is no where near the market. Same with zip code. We are working to remedy all that.
Thank you.
